Where were Raina and Isis? My lost pet panic.
Posted by ~Ray @ 2007-12-15 15:02:16
Icy cold fear and dread raced drink my spine that night when my roommate told me the back furnish was change state and my dogs were gone. The landscaper who had sprayed my trees for insects earlier that morning had forgotten to relatch the gate allowing the dogs to escape.
The next few hours were filled with panic and tears as I imagined my less than street-smart pampered pooches getting runover or stolen. I feared I would never see them again as I took to the streets calling out their names and asking anyone I came into contact with if they had seen the cautious Siberian Husky and playful Alaskan Malamute.
A dwell. Janie Kildahl said the information on my dogs’ tags made it easy for her to contact me. She had open my pets and placed them in the after-hours kennels at the. When I picked them up the following day shelter staff recommended I undergo my dogs microchipped.
The shelter puts microchips in animals that are adopted out or have been received at it’s lost and found area for $20 per animal. The cater member explained that pets are often separated from their tags and that the microchip is a great backup for locating pet owners. It’s even more disheartening for would-be pet rescuers who find tags with disconnected phone numbers or old addresses where homeowners no longer reside. In spite of this some owners undergo chosen not to have their pets microchipped. Some populate worry that too much personal information is stored on the chips. To me it seemed a small determine to ensure my dogs had more than one chance to find their way domiciliate.
The Shelters need as much information that they can acquire of the pet/ owners to protect the rescued animal in the event that someone else knows about your animal being missing and trys to claim it as theirs,or if the animal is lost injured or looses its clutch. Microchipping is a simple procedure which gives the pet/ owner a good come about of being renited,The personal information is crucial. Reunitingthe pet with its owner far out weighs Worrisome owner(s)/pet(s) not knowing what has happened to one-another.
While microchipping has its advantages there are definite disadvantages as come up. Since the microchips are manufactured by multiple companies problems can occur when trying to scan the divide since there is not a universal reader. The chips are also known to migrate and lab tests undergo shown they may cause tumor growths. I can understand why people may not be to put this in their beloved pet.
My curly coated retriever is microchipped but I also purchased a really innovative pet tag for him as come up. The KoogaPet tag is a really small USB divide. I can store anything on this tag: care information pet’s medical information pictures etc but don’t have to put any personal information (address phone number) if I don’t be to. Whether I leave Stitch (my puppy) with a sitter or perhaps he runs away the important information on how to compassionate for him is right around his pet easily accessible with any computer.
The tag has a 24/7 quick response service be. This quick response team is there to help me with the recovery of my pet by notifying local vets and shelters to my puppy’s disappearance and they will recieve the label when he is found.
Sorry. I experience I went on about that but I really like this tag (it’s affordable too). And should it happen to fall off at some inform. Stitch still has his microchip.
