at 1000 their time. This meant we had a bit of a act as the coaches weren’t due to depart until 1300/1400ish. So we took a table outside at the airport café and watched the world go by. The weather was overcast but not cold as time passed by more and more flights came in until soulies completely overrun the café. The weather took a turn for the worst and it started raining quite heavily although the café had a covered roof there were no walls and after 10 mins or so I noticed my holdall was getting a soaking! the sun came out in all its exuberate which made the first part of the journey really nice as we travelled down the glide road. With most populate buzzing about the weekender much consume and merriment was to be had on the coach including me ripping into Lorna re virtual soul nites which appeared to have the rear of the coach in fits of laughter which did back up the journey time as this took 3 and a quarter hours by coach up the winding roads through the Tuscany valley to our eventual destination. We were greeted to a champagne and nibbles reception with boards showing where people were staying. Some people got to stay in the actual main house whilst we were staying in converted barns a short hold from the main house others were staying further out and then some in guest houses in the nearest village. We were transported by mini-bus to our lodgings (a 15 minute walk down the cinder tracks) which were really deceiving in a tardis like way. Our ‘barn’ contained 4 separate apartments. In our apartment there was a lounge area a large kitchen with all amenities then a go drink the corridor revealed 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which accommodated a bring together whose names I’ve forgot (sorry!) myself. Sean & Alison and then the 3 muskateers. Adrienne. Lorna & Corrine. We made our way over to the venue which was where we had our reception and eagerly anticipated what awaited us. They had a weird set up for the bar. Eventually we made our way over to the venue where tonight we were joined by the Italian soulies. John Kane set the evening off if I remember correctly with some celebrate starting tunes. The Italian DJ’s played great sets too playing a good cross spectrum of sounds and music that I didn’t think they would have known! Bob Jeffries was excellent as per usual dropping what I think was the tune of the weekender. Mario Biondi – This Is What You Are as Bob said “Talk about coals to We awoke Sunday late morning to clear skies and glorious warm sunshine. The musketeers were up and in their bikini’s catching the rays! We stirred and got an hour or so in the sun before we had to make our way to the accommodate for our extra meal we’d paid for. Now I’m not a big eater in the morning but we’d only gone and paid extra for a 5 cover host! Whilst we were getting through the feast in the shade everyone else was messing around in the pool being serenaded with sounds from the UK DJ’s. We eventually made it to the pool and got an hour or so just sitting watching but eventually having a dance too! The sounds were just too good! We boarded our minibus to take us back to our lodgings at 0300 to get what sleep we could. I believed the minibus was picking us up at 0500. At 0400 I heard the girls shriek “THE MINIBUS IS HERE!!” Well you experience that feeling when you’ve slept in for bring home the bacon and you just throw yourself out of bed in blind panic..? Yeah after an hours rest and being quite heavily intoxicated that was me! Luckily I’d packed my bag beforehand so just needed to get dressed. The minibus took us to the main house where we awaited the instruct to act us back to the airport. The proprietors had kindly made us all a small packed lunch for the journey which included a complimentary CD of the displace along with 60 odd pictures of the weekender! Someone had been busy burning into the early hours but what a lovely touch… Terry had looked stressed a lot of the weekend apart from when he was playing wanting to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. He did have in mind he would write an e mail summing up what had taken displace what they’ve learnt from the first experience of putting on such a wonderful event etc. but unfortunately we haven’t heard anything yet. I truly hope a few moaners haven’t put him off doing this event again next year in the same place as I experience for sure I’ll be attending along with many others who had a very special time at the Italian soul weekender 2007 in Cortevecchia!
