"Flexo?s Budget for 2008" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-14 04:23:19

I decided this year that beyond my. Since moving to my new apartment last July my discretionary expenses have been increasing. Perhaps designing a spending plan and evaluating my real expenses against the budget each month will help me rein in some of that spending. To create this budget. I examined my expenses from 2007. It’s reasonable to expect that costs for certain items like gasoline and groceries are going to increase. Some predictions call for runaway inflation this year but I’m taking a more practical approach. I’m also using conservative estimates for my income. I’m forecasting a 3% salary increase in March below my expectations but anything can happen in the corporate environment. I haven’t included a bonus in the forecast although I expect to receive one in February or March. I’m also budgeting income from other sources steady at $6,000 per month. I hope that this is a conservative prediction. My is to earn a total of $100,000 outside of my day job and I won’t get there earning $6,000 each month. Keep reading this article to see my budget worksheet followed by more explanation. Clicking on the thumbnail will present a larger more legible chart. While most line items are consistent from month to month. I adjusted the months in which I will receive three pay checks. I also adjusted my forecast rent expense for the month I renew my lease—I’d be surprised if my rent did not go up. It may not increase 10% but it seems like a conservative guess. The total rent budget for the year accounts for 15% of my projected income. I’m comfortable with that level of spending. All budgeted expenses discretionary and non-discretionary add up to only 54% of my total projected income. This means I have a a significant portion of income not earmarked for spending. I intend to use the surplus to pay off my student loan debt this year (another one of my goals) as well as save and invest as much as possible. The surplus will also help me pay for any unexpected decisions I make this year and I’m “expecting the unexpected.” I’ve simplified the categories I normally use in my monthly reports in order to add flexibility and not tie myself down too much. I think I included the major categories but this is my first attempt at creating a budget in several years. If there’s anything I’ve left out please let me know. 6:30 pm Update: I’ve fixed calculation errors in the table so view the graphic again if you were confused the first time. One note: your bottom row “surplus after expenses” The amount ($101k) doesn’t make sense. I’m not sure where it’s coming from. Also the percentage (54%) is actually what you will spend not your leftover surplus. Mars: My apartment lease is up for renewal at the end of June and I expect that my rent will go up. As of now my cable services are included in rent; that deal will expire at the same time. I expect Comcast—who has purchased my current cable provider—will want me to pay full price. Those were the only increases. I didn’t have a 2007 budget—this is all new. Enter your comments below. "Personal Budgeting Software" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 01:54:20

is for people who are trying to create and stick with a workable budget so they can pay drink their debts deliver for the future and manage their money wisely. These programs can be extremely effective and easy to use. Individuals and families who are in debt and be help getting out as well as people who are simply looking for a better way to organize their household budgets will find budgeting software extremely helpful. Once upon a time many families budgeted through the envelope system. Each envelope was labeled (contract phone groceries car repairs vacation etc.) and the week's pay was divvied up accordingly into the envelopes. If they wanted to go out to a movie they checked the entertainment envelope. It's alter? Well then they stayed in. Although this seems simplistic it worked. Today with the widespread use of credit cards and debit cards populate don't keep close track of their spending. It's very easy to forget about that $20 ATM withdrawal or that lunch at the diner. This can lead to careless spending and often debt. For this reason is becoming very popular. Many populate have used these programs to get a better handle on their finances making it easier to get out of debt save for the future and increase wealth. "But thou shalt bequeath the ennoble thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers as it is this day," (Deuteronomy 8:18). There are many different kinds of personal budgeting software programs. Consumers should research the benefits of each before choosing one. Many feature special tracking tools that allow them to see exactly where the money was spent. This eye-opening drive lets populate see at one glance how much money is likely being wasted each day--money that could be used more wisely to pay down or invest in the future. Speaking of investing some of these programs also undergo investment calculators tools to help determine retirement strategies and goals. Another excellent feature of some programs is an automatic bill payment function. This means never worrying about postage stamps or late fees. Perhaps the best thing about personal budgeting software programs is that using one puts people back in control of managing the household budget. A counseling agency isn't needed to to make payments. A debt service isn't needed to settle debts (which damages credit ratings). And lawyers are not needed to register for bankruptcy. Too many populate let their finances spiral out of hold back to the inform where these step are inevitable. Using a budgeting software program is a proactive go to putting people on the road to financial stability and wealth.
