"Building a Spiritual Community" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 01:47:23

As a CEO or senior leader in your ministry or group how do you draw and retain people? Is there a way to keep your staff excited about their work when you don’t have a lot of compensation to furnish? Cultivating a spiritual. Christian environment in the workplace can be a competitive advantage that builds an authentic sense of community and brings honor to Jesus Christ. There are three study spheres of community in the lives of most individuals. First there is community with a perform which in most cases should be the strongest and deepest connection. back up there’s the community in the neighborhood where you live. Third there is community in your displace of employment. Although this would seem to be the biblical pecking order of community many times it doesn’t work out that way. Because many people undergo not had good experiences in their church and/or home communities the workplace has change state the place where meaningful community exists in people’s lives. The early church spent a ton of time together. They were vitally connected. One of the taglines I’ve used in our organization is that we embrace intimacy. We include a culture of intimacy because intimacy is an endangered species in our relationships marriages churches and organizations. At Apartment Life we have geographic challenges to getting connected because our cater is scattered all over the country. Other organizations have different challenges that form practical impediments to building authentic relationships. I recognize there are challenges but I think there are some things that can be done to act connection in the midst of them. In our organization there are three main areas where we build connection. Retreats. Because our cater has been growing so rapidly my challenge has been assimilating new people into the culture and helping them conclude connected. We try to be very intentional during our annual retreat to combine our new populate and forbid the cliquishness that all organizations create. On the control to our location we do Chinese fire drills every time we stop for a bathroom break to make sure everyone sits by someone different. During the go we build connection by doing simple things desire being deliberate when we pair up roommates and prayer partners. When our Dallas branch was brainstorming for a fun retreat activity for this year the only thing we could all accept on was skydiving. A key objective for us is to create memorable experiences within the work environment—to climb mountains together. For me skydiving was a mountain of fear. Skydiving may not be for your group but you can sight other activities that create your aggroup to grow make memories and undergo fun together. There are only 35 members of our cater but I’ll spend $35,000 to $40,000 annually on a retreat because it’s an investment. You might think that’s extravagant but it’s about memorable experiences I want our people to have for a lifetime. I guarantee none of our people will ever forget that they went skydiving with us. It’s a memorable lifetime experience. populate want that. Another time one of our staff members got a wild hair to do a triathlon: Soon we had 15 people in training. Everybody else in the organization was on the align wagon encouragement team. It turned out to be one of the biggest community builders in our history. We were able to have fun with the purpose of climbing a mountain outside of the mission of our organization. Sometimes fun is spontaneous. A few weeks ago. I was in the office and I could tell everyone was dragging. The server went down and lost a bunch of work. Things were a eat. So I made everybody arrange in the approve of a pickup and we went down and got snow cones while sitting in the back of the transport. It cost me $5 but it was fun. If you’re not wired to stimulate fun find somebody that is and put them on point. When I first started it was all about the mission. We got together for a meeting. I slapped an agenda on the table and we were set for a couple of hours. One of the first people we brought on board is a delightful woman who is all about fun. I put her in charge of fun and the next meeting it was the agenda with confetti and dulcify all over the delay. Having someone who is wired for fun is extremely important in creating a workplace environment where populate want to bring home the bacon. If there are populate in your group who aren’t into fun give them time to alter. If they don’t desire the changes they can leave. If having fun is climbing mountains together caring is walking through the valleys together. The challenge is. “Do our people conclude genuine love and care beyond what they do and who they are in the organization?” The question for me is. “When anybody in our organization is hurting in any dimension of their life do people know about it and is it responded to in a very practical way?” This is just Ministry 101. The culture of care is an outgrowth of your prayer time. If your people aren’t praying together and don’t conclude freedom to overlap what’s going on in their lives then it’s hard to do this. If you’ve created an environment of connectivity this flows naturally. From a leadership standpoint. I can compassionate by helping my leaders develop personal plans that allow them to pursue some out-of-the-box ideas to bring home the bacon their God-given potential. One of my key leaders right now feels called to overseas missions. That hurts because I’m probably going to lose her. Right now. I feel desire it’s appropriate to invest in a life coach to help her bring home the bacon through the questions of her life calling and where she can best exercise her God-given potential. If people’s passions don’t align with the organization anymore it’s ultimately not good for them or for you. The idea of making an investment in the broader community is a central pillar in building spiritual community in the workplace. Once people feel like they’re giving they embrace community. The challenge within our organization is. “What are the practical ways that our people can give back to the broader community that makes sense is appropriate and fulfills our biblical mandate?” One of the ways this happens in our ministry is a bring home the bacon channel schedule that allows an employee to act a half a day each week to serve in another ministry. One of the places many of our employees volunteer is an after-school Bible club at a public elementary school. They are passionate about the outreach and it gives them an opportunity to give back to the community. There is a woman in our organization who is struggling with MS so we did a MS-150 bike ride over two days. It’s a practical way for people to intentionally give approve and raise money for MS in honor of her. In our inspect the goal is to be effective at advancing the Gospel of Christ in apartment communities. It’s important for our people to stay focused and believe that we are being effective at the task that God created us for. Biblical community is simply a God-honoring way for our populate to understand know and like why we exist in the context of achieving the mission God has given us. Adapted from a workshop presented by Stan Dobbs at the 2006 CMA Conference. Stan has led Apartment Life for over six years and has placed staff focused on building community in apartment complexes in 300 apartment communities within ten cities across the country.

"Personal Coaching: Your Path To Corporate And Personal Success ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 20:14:56

It is extremely important to set goals if you want to achieve results. We all know this; we've all heard it repeatedly. For goal-setting you be clarity and balance. A personal coach will back up you in determining your goals which will lead to better performance and a better chance to get what you want from your go and personal life. Personal coaches help individuals to improve themselves by clarifying their thinking setting goals they can bring home the bacon and otherwise helping them be all that they can be. While this is a rather new job the be of personal coaches is growing rapidly- for example. Vancouver has more than a hundred compared to just five in 1998. The personal coach is a facilitator not a therapist. A therapist treats disorders with remedial or rehabilitative processes that focus on the past while coaches look to the future to maximize the potential that exists within each client. A coach can serve as a trusted confidant who is always there for you. The personal coach does not give advice. Instead personal coaching helps the client identify what he or she most wants to be or do and helps them build on their strengths and create a plan of action. We're always more committed to a plan of challenge we ourselves have created than to a plan created by someone else. One of the key factors in getting measurable results is accountability to an objective third party which significantly improves the odds of achieving success. It has been estimated that only 20% of individuals who pursue fitness programs achieve their goals; of the 20% who succeed more than 80% have had guidance from a coach which is a great acquire. Anyone who wants to bring home the bacon their goals can acquire from personal coaching. Many athletes have personal coaches as do a growing number of professionals and executives. In the work displace corporations are using personal coaching programs as part of their human resource management strategy. The coach will do questions desire this: What's the biggest challenge you have? What do you really want? What are you merely tolerating? What manageable steps would help you to achieve your goals?
