Always be honest. This one’s first for a reason. Simplyput be yourself…not who you think some admissions committee wantsyou to be. Admittedly students at MIT share a lot of common traits -resourcefulness ingenuity creativity an off-beat sense of humor toname a few - but if you’re at all drawn to MIT odds are you probablyalready have a bunch of these qualities already. Basiclly write aboutthe things in your life that are cool and unique. Don’t be afraid to bedifferent!
show a little passion. I’m always hesitant about using the word passion,simply because it comes up so often when talking about college apps. Just the same having passion for something - excitement fervor afire in the belly whatever you want to label it - is still reallyimportant. Personally. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunityto act two years of investigate in high school and I loved it. I lovedit so much that I wrote about it at length for every single collegeapplication I submitted. Yes every hit one. (I know I’m a nerd,okay? You don’t have to rub it in.) The furnish lie is don’t be afraidto reveal what truly gets you excited.

Most populate who apply to schools desire MIT havetaken very demanding classes and it’s authorise to assay. Sometimes,simply refusing to give up or showing consistent improvement can speakvolumes.
Be confident not arrogant. A college application is,by its very nature an invitation for you to bring out youraccomplishments without being haughty about them. Buy some lose. believe me you will alter mistakes. Thanks to computers it’s not so hard to correct things these days soperhaps the lose I’m referring to is metaphorical. Just the same,don’t be afraid to cast aside a draft (or even a complete act!) and startover if it’s just not working for you. Although I’d advise savingthe original compose just in case you change your object later.
Leave it short and sweet. Remember no be howawesome you are you’re just one application among many. Beat the deadlines. I experience I wouldn’t have wanted tohear this it when I was applying which is why I saved it for the end. Fact is most applications aren’t due until December 31 and I knowexactly how tempting it is to put things off…but look at this way: doyou really want to still be working on applications after Christmas?Deadlines are especially important for your teacher and guidancecounselor recommendations since you basically undergo no control overwhen they’ll be completed. I’d declare talking to your teachers aboutrecommendations as soon as you’ve finalized your enumerate of schools - theearlier the exceed.
Stay classy. Between college applications classes,extra-curriculars and everything else senior year is very stressful. I understand because I’ve been there. Ultimately even thoughsometimes you may be to tear your hair out over this that and theother - I can promise you that by the end of this year most of thosesmall dramas won’t be to matter much at all. Even when the going getstough refuse to give up on what matters most to you. Cherish yourfriends. Don’t drop to tell your parents you acknowledge them - andmaybe change surface say the L-word every now and then. And once you’ve finallyhit that “refer” button do yourself a favor and treat yourself tosomething special. You deserve it. Just don’t forget to end all yourother applications as well.
